Expected lineup of PSV in Amsterdam: ‘Peter Bosz surprises regarding Geertruida and Pepi’
1 min readIt could be called a small sensation if he has to start up on the bench again. We can’t really picture it all that clearly yet, but according to the latest reports, Flamingo and Obispo can simply remain in place, where Geertruida can meanwhile be seen as match-ready.
PSV will visit Ajax on Saturday evening and try to show that the club is still ahead of the Amsterdammers in many areas. The overall expectation, based on multiple sources, is that Peter Bosz will make changes to his team in two positions compared to the convincing 1-6 victory over FC Utrecht. This would come at the expense of Geertruida, who has again been described as fully fit and has match sharpness.
Matej Kovar wants to defend the goal and hopefully the goalkeeper will do so without his often usual and common little mistakes or slip-ups. Sergiño Dest, Ryan Flamingo, Armando Obispo and Mauro Junior will form the defense.
Also Kodai Sano begins, just like Noah Fernandez, with the duel at the Johan Cruijff Arena. That is also the case for Guus Til, who often delivers in major matches. For Sven Mijnans, that means he will start from the bench. Whether that also applies to Ricardo Pepi remains to be seen, because there appear to be doubts about the American striker regarding a starting spot against Ajax. Pepi does not seem to have his sights set sharply. Reports surrounding the Herdgang seem to indicate that the American could start on the bench, but then Bosz would be withdrawing his faith in the striker, which will not do him much good.
So Ricardo Pepi could presumably replace him at the point of attack. In any case, Ivan Perisic and Ruben van Bommel will take up the positions on the wings.

Guus Til up front instead of Pepi... thats a tactical swap, but Pepi has the more natural threat in the box. "Pepi lijkt het vizier niet op scherp te hebben staan" sounds like a form issue, and i dont want that in a Topper. Come on PSV, prove you still control levels.
Kovar start en Bosz wisselt twee plekken, oké. Maar die geruchten over Pepi... als hij niet scherp is, geef Til dan ballen, niet per se hopen op rode kinderfeestjes. Deze opstelling moet gas geven vanaf minuut 1, anders sta je snel achter tegen Ajax. 👀💯
"Peter Bosz verrast inzake Geertruida en Pepi" nou prima dan, wij houden van verrassingen. Maar als Pepi niet start, dan is PSV z'n goal threat minder scherp. Ik wacht even wat er gebeurt als Ajax druk zet.
That expected XI is a bit risky: Kovar, Sano and Fernandez together vs Ajax pressing is not for the faint-hearted. Perisic and Van Bommel on the wings could be fire 🔥 but only if the midfield actually protects transitions.
"Bosz verrast inzake Geertruida en Pepi" lol ok then. If Pepi starts on the bench, i hope it is not confidence management. Otherwise Ajax will smell fear and turn it into pressure.
I actually like the idea of fresh legs with Sano and Til. Til in big matches can be a cheat code, and Perisic on the wing will stretch them. Still, Pepi being questionable is a big concern, i want him sharp.
Geertruida fit maar toch op de bank? Bosz durft. Ik snap de tactische keuze met Til in de spits, maar Pepi twijfels dan... echt hopen dat het meer rust is dan een tikje vertrouwen kwijt. Met Perisic en Van Bommel op de vleugels moet er wel snelheid en directheid komen. ⚽️🔥
Dest, Flamingo, Obispo and Mauro in the back makes sense on paper, but Geertruida being available and not starting is weird. If Kovar is even slightly sloppy, Ajax will punish it fast. Bench Til/Pepi and play them later, maybe.
Geertruida niet in de basis is wel een statement. Als Pepi echt op de bank staat dan moet Til het meteen afmaken, want Ajax thuis gaat geen genade geven. Kovar hopen dat hij vandaag gewoon solide blijft, geen gekke momenten.
If Geertruida benched again after being fit, i swear Bosz better have a plan. Flamingo and Obispo starting in Amsterdam feels like a statement, but im not convinced defensively... Kovar please dont do the usual stuff.
