Expansion Philips Stadium | PSV shares new footage
1 min readEarlier this year PSV presented plans to expand the Philips Stadium. In 2027, the first renovations should begin.
The intention is that the capacity of the stadium in 2030 is at least 52,000 spectators. At present, the current capacity is at least 35,000 spectators.
General Director Marcel Brands already told on 14 September of last year more about the expansion during the Rondo program on Ziggo Sport. ''If it all works out, it should take two or two and a half years for everything to be completely ready. The plan is that before the end of the year there will be a go or no-go. If we get the go-ahead, we want to start immediately after the season. That is a very big wish,'' said Brands in that broadcast.
Also, the managing director during that broadcast told more about the costs of the renovation. ''Then it involves an investment of almost four hundred million euros. That gives you a stomach ache. We are working hard on the question of how we can finance it. It must not come at the expense of the football budget. That needs to keep growing.''

In the past period, the club has had multiple designs created and eventually the preferred design is now known for what the stadium should look like in 2030. In the meantime, PSV has shown new images via its social media channels of the preferred design for the new Philips Stadium.
