ESPN analysts divided over the top favorite for the national title
1 min readThe Eredivisie 2026/2027 season is about to begin. Promoted side SC Cambuur and Excelsior have the honor of kicking off the new season on Friday evening.
PSV hopes to go for a fourth consecutive league title, while Ajax and Feyenoord hope for a better season than last year. A new football season also brings, among many fans and analysts, the usual share of predictions.
It’s the same with ESPN’s analysts and reporters. On social media, the sports broadcaster shares the predictions of eight analysts, and there is a lot of disagreement about the 2026/2027 league champion.
Mario Been, Bram van Polen, Anco Jansen and Sanne van Dongen point to PSV as the league champion. On the other hand, Kenneth Perez, Marciano Vink, Danny Koevermans and Milan van Dongen think the title this season will go to Ajax.
Even the predictions for the best player are divided, and in that, three analysts pick a PSV player. So, Ivan Perišić is predicted by Been as the best player, while Van Polen goes for Kodai Sano and Jansen for Joey Veerman.

Na vorig jaar wil Feyenoord verbetering, maar eerlijk: Ajax als kampioen vind ik helemaal niet gek. Als Perez en Vink gelijk krijgen, dan gaan PSV en Feyenoord gewoon punten laten liggen door ego voetbal. Naah, ik hoop op een seizoen waar PSV wankelt. 🤡
"PSV hoopt op te gaan voor de vierde opeenvolgende landstitel" dus weer die druk. Als we het eerste blok niet pakken, wordt die Ajax hype ineens levensgevaarlijk. Maar ik geloof dat PSV dit seizoen tactisch sterker is.
Eens dat Perisic het verschil kan maken, maar beste speler kiezen blijft altijd afhankelijk van hoe consistent je bent. Joey Veerman gaat dit seizoen ook goals en assists pakken, dat zie ik echt gebeuren. 2 van die vier PSV-keuzes klopt gewoon. 💯
Milan van Dongen zegt Ajax en dat is echt cap. Als Veerman weer zo'n centrale rol pakt, dan wint PSV vaker dan mensen denken. Helemaal als Sano niet meteen al alles moet dragen. 👀
Ik snap die Ajax-favorieten van Perez/Vink echt, vooral als ze weer snel omzetten. Toch vind ik dat PSV op het detail en de diepte in de selectie net wat meer controle heeft. Dit jaar wordt het spannend hoor, maar PSV voelt als de veilige optie.
PSV als kampioen zie ik ook wel zitten, maar tbh ik maak me vooral zorgen om de wedstrijden waar we te traag starten. Met Perisic als beste speler, ok... maar hoe zit het dan met de 2e helft tempo's? 🔥
