ESPN analyst on Excelsior - PSV: "I want to see him at FC Porto under Farioli"

1 min read

Ryan Flamingo’s season has not exactly gotten off to a great start. The defense is conceding the necessary goals every week, and so the defenders are the subject of conversation.

It has now become clear that both Yarek Gąsiorowski and Ryan Flamingo need a real leader by their side in order to be able to take the team themselves to a higher level. That is why neither of the two central defenders is able to provide stability. That is also no shame if the captain and, above all, the key builder is not available. Jerdy Schouten, after all, is sorely missed.

Ryan Flamingo, of course, had a very strong debut season at PSV, but failed to carry that form through and is, in fact, still under discussion. It doesn’t immediately add up to what the defender shows in every match. Even so, he still has a good reputation internationally, because Benfica has enquired about him. However, that club doesn’t follow through. A few Italian clubs also seem to be in the market for Flamingo, who, in any case, should become more consistent.

The Eindhovens Dagblad managed to confirm the Portuguese interest. The PSV watcher lets it be known that Flamingo himself is open to a move to Lisbon, although it remains to be seen whether the Portuguese top club will also become genuinely concrete. The interest, however, is not new, because last year Benfica also inquired about PSV defender. Still, it seems that Flamingo needs to take another step in his development before clubs of this kind actually come onto the radar for the defender taken over by FC Utrecht.

In the event that Benfica's interest becomes concrete, however, PSV will not simply cooperate with Flamingo's departure, who still often appears in the starting lineup under Peter Bosz. PSV would be looking at a transfer fee of around 20 million euros. Marciano Vink still thinks positively about Flamingo at ESPN. With the help of a good coach who is somewhat more defensive-minded, Flamingo could make some steps forward in his development. 'I want to see him under Farioli at FC Porto,' Vink points to the Italian coach of FC Porto.

Eens.

tbh die Ryan Flamingo hype is wel down this year.
