Double role in store for Bosz?: “He is of course the dream candidate.”
1 min readUnlike countries such as Germany, France and Belgium, the Netherlands still has not found a new national team coach. On 30 June Ronald Koeman resigned, and since then the KNVB has still not managed to secure a new national team coach.
According to Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf, the KNVB will fully embrace Michael Reiziger as the new national team coach. Verweij said this last week in the podcast Kick-off of De Telegraaf.
Last week, news also emerged that the now 75-year-old Louis van Gaal would be open to talking with the KNVB about a fourth adventure as head coach of Oranje. Still, it seems unlikely that Van Gaal will be appointed again.
Earlier, Peter Bosz, Arne Slot and Erik ten Hag already closed the door for the KNVB. Yet, according to Rafael van der Vaart, it wouldn’t be strange if the KNVB ends up with Bosz after all, and Van der Vaart even envisions a double role for the current PSV coach.

This lets the analyst know in the NOS Football Podcast. ''I'll put it right on the table: I think Nigel de Jong still has to call the agent of Bosz. Like: does Peter really know for sure? Is there still some room? Could we maybe still talk?'', begins commentator Jan Roelfs, after which Van der Vaart replies: ''He is, of course, the dream candidate.''
Despite the fact that Bosz has repeatedly indicated that he won’t be doing it and, because of that, left interviews as well, Van der Vaart believes that the PSV coach is still a serious option. ''A dream candidate costs money. I would try to ask whether he is open to a double role. A club never likes that, but it is in the interests of Dutch football. I can imagine that PSV might give it some thought'', the analyst thinks.
For the former football player, it’s pretty simple. ''If I have to say it now? I would do everything to persuade Bosz again. If that is the dream, then you have to do everything for it. Then you have to sit down with PSV. Let’s hope that PSV loses in the coming period,'' Van der Vaart said.

Van der Vaart frames it as "in the interest of Dutch football", but a double role conflicts with planning, scouting, and trust in the dressing room. If Bosz is really a "droomkandidaat", he should make a clear choice, not a compromise.
Jan Roelfs saying Nigel de Jong should call his agent is honestly the most PSV thing ever, like informal negotiations by insiders. But Bosz costs money and time, and switching between club and country rarely ends well.
Laten we hopen dat PSV verliest?! 😂 Come on Rafael, that is pure rivalry mindset. Bosz stays, works with our squad, and Oranje can call when its actually serious.
Double role would be a nightmare for PSV, but I get the logic. If the KNVB want results, they will pay and they will ask again, same old story. Also hope we dont lose so Van der Vaart does not get his wish lol.
The quote "Hij is natuurlijk de droomkandidaat" is wild, because Bosz already walked away from interviews. How many times can they sell the same idea before it just becomes PR?
If Bosz is still on the table after saying no again, thats peak KNVB chaos 😅 But tbh a double role for a PSV coach sounds messy, players hate uncertainty.
