De Telegraaf targets Sven Mijnans

After the won rescheduled match of Ajax at home against Willem II (5-1) last Tuesday, all Eredivisie clubs have played six matches. In this, PSV is top with sixteen points on goal difference at the expense of AZ.

Peter Bosz’s side managed last Sunday, despite an early 0-1 deficit after a blunder by goalkeeper Matej Kovar, to bounce back and win 4-1 against Sparta Rotterdam. Sven Mijnans scored a hat-trick in the process.

That was also seen by journalist Steven Kooijman of De Telegraaf. Kooijman was present for his employer on Saturday evening at Fortuna Sittard - Ajax (1-5) and watched with strong disbelief as Ajax player Oliver Edvardsen was allowed to start from kickoff by coach Michel.

''I had to laugh when I was sitting in the stands at Ajax. I saw a blond little man there with number 20. And he was walking around a bit as if he were pointing like Cruyff. And I couldn’t help thinking: huh? Of course that isn’t Klaassen’s number, but he is blond. Klaassen has more hair these days. But it was Edvardsen. He was sitting there pointing around a bit and doing things. But by far he was the worst man on the pitch'', the reporter tells in the podcast Kick-off of De Telegraaf.

Then Kooijman tries to get into the Spanish coach’s head. ''He looks for speed. At Girona he played with Sávio as a left winger. That was a lightning-fast dribbler. On the right he also had plenty of pace. Now he doesn’t have a left winger. Feyenoord didn’t have one either, which is why Valente played. At Ajax Edvardsen does that. I think Míchel has already gone into Jordi’s office a couple of times with the question of whether there isn’t already someone somewhere in that box that we can put in place. It isn’t Edvardsen,'' says the journalist.

If it were up to the reporter, Ouazane would be preferred over Edvardsen, and Kooijman also points to Sven Mijnans. ''What great appointments and what technique he has. I also enjoy that with Valente or Mijnans. Those are the kind of footballers I love. They should always be given preference over a Danish (Norwegian, ed.) dribbler. Míchel does not have all the players he needs for his system and his way of playing. Naturally, that is lacking up front on the left'', Kooijman said.
