De Telegraaf again points to Peter Bosz: “He really wants…”

There is still a lot of uncertainty about who the new head coach of the Netherlands national team will be. Former PSV player Michael Reiziger is, according to VI journalist Martijn Krabbendam, the KNVB’s dream candidate and De Telegraaf reported Monday morning that Louis van Gaal is considering to speak with the KNVB about a possible return as head coach.

According to Mike Verweij, the possible interest from Van Gaal is the best news the KNVB could have hoped for. This is what Verweij says in the De Telegraaf podcast Kick-off.

The possible return of The Iron Tulip raises many questions for presenter Hein Keijser, but Verweij doesn't agree. ''That is the very best news the KNVB can get; Louis van Gaal can now step in. He is not the fourth or fifth choice, because the KNVB also thought that Louis had had enough. If a top coach like Louis van Gaal presents himself, then you are crazy as Nigel de Jong if you don't go and talk to him'', the journalist says.

It has already become clear that Peter Bosz and Erik ten Hag are not open to becoming head coach of the Netherlands national team now. Last week, Arne Slot also shut the door, meaning that Michael Reiziger or Louis van Gaal now appears to be the choice for the KNVB.

According to Verweij, two years with Louis van Gaal would be ideal, so that afterwards he can go into business with Peter Bosz. ''By putting Louis van Gaal there for two years, you also clear the way for Peter Bosz. He really wants to, and he is still under contract with PSV. I think it has to be a perfect fit for Nigel de Jong'', the reporter says emphatically.

In addition, the journalist is also happy that things are going better with the health of the nearly 75-year-old Van Gaal. ''The best news is that he is simply completely healthy again. Louis had prostate cancer and that his medical problems are in the past. That he still has the ambition at 75 years old, I really find that great'', said Verweij.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal has also spoken in conversation with Voetbal International and said he is open to a fourth spell as head coach of Oranje. ''I want to always help the KNVB, as I also wanted to do at Ajax. And with a squad like that, of course there are opportunities. I also think that the Netherlands could still become European or world champions, because 95 percent of the squad plays abroad and often for good clubs'', Van Gaal says to VI.
