Columnist and Vitesse fan points to Kodai Sano: "I also sympathize"
1 min readKodai Sano switches from NEC to PSV, and that hasn’t escaped columnist Marcel van Roosmalen either. As a staunch supporter of Vitesse, Van Roosmalen therefore can’t help but take a jab at the rival from Nijmegen.
''I want the people of Nijmegen the very best; I don’t mind at all if they struggle through half a season in the Champions League, but I also sympathize with the likeable Japanese man Kodai Sano, who after two years of captivity can finally go and stand wherever he wants'', writes the columnist in NRC Handelsblad.
Last Tuesday, NEC still played in the Champions League qualifying round away at Olympiacos in Greece. Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie drew 0-0 and at times made an excellent impression.
As a result, Dick Schreuder's squad still has a chance to qualify for the main tournament of the billion-dollar competition. Incidentally, Sano did not play that evening because the Japanese player was approved by PSV last Wednesday.
The midfielder decided himself not to take action on Tuesday evening due to the displeasure of coach Schreuder. Van Roosmalen can only laugh about it.
''The little door of the birdcage was left slightly ajar and on match day he immediately announced his transfer to PSV. Good for him: fly away to your heart’s content, Kodai!'', said the Vitesse supporter.

"vlieg maar lekker weg Kodai!" lol alsof het makkelijk is, maar die ploeg stond 0-0 tegen Olympiakos en dan valt hij uit door de transfer. Ik wil hem bij PSV nu gewoon zo snel mogelijk zien, niet alleen in NRC. 🔥
Good for him, vlieg maar lekker weg.... en toch ben ik blij dat hij naar PSV gaat. Als hij al mentaal weg is bij NEC is het sportief gezien beter dat hij niet loopt te forceren, en wij hebben straks een middenvelder die wil. Wél graag snel brengen in ritme, dan is dit een banger. ❤️🔥
Ik snap Schreuder wel met die beslissing om Sano niet te laten spelen, al is het voor het team lastig. Maar Van Roosmalen die lacht om onvrede, bruh... kan toch gewoon respect hebben voor de speler. Als Sano straks in Eindhoven minuten pakt, is dat hele drama snel vergeten. ⚽
Sano wordt maandag gekeurd en dinsdag niet spelen, dan roep je bijna zelf problemen op bij de club. Maar goed, Olympiakos uit is geen pretje, NEC had hem misschien nodig... wel balen dat die wedstrijd zonder hem moest. 🤡
Die quote over het "deurtje van de vogelkooi" is echt catchy, maar het blijft wel zuur van Vitesse-fan. i get it, maar Sano had gewoon gekozen voor PSV en klaar. Jammer voor NEC, maar 0-0 tegen Olympiakos is toch peak. 💯
"Ik gun de Nijmegenaren het beste" zegt hij, maar daarna gaat hij wel lekker door met de sneren. Tbh, Sano die zegt dat hij niet speelt wegens keuzes... dat voelt stug, maar als de deal al rond is snap je de houding.
Ik moet wel lachen om die vergelijking, maar eerlijk is eerlijk: Sano hoort gewoon op het veld te staan als het kan. Als PSV hem inderdaad snel klaar had, snap ik Schreuder wel... toch gaat zo'n half seizoen transferdrama nooit soepel.
"Ik leef ook mee met de sympathieke Japanner Kodai Sano" vind ik wel grappig van Marcel, maar tbh Vitesse praat alsof PSV hem niet gewoon kocht. Als die jongen fit is, moet hij vooral voetballen. 👀
