Belgian star player has a clear view of Mark van Bommel

Kevin De Bruyne is one of the star players of the team who is still in the squad despite his age of 35. At a press conference, De Bruyne tells Belgian media that he is extremely looking forward to the era with Van Bommel as national team coach.
''With the Red Devils, a new project is starting now. I see a lot of enthusiasm and we’ll see how it goes'', says the Napoli midfielder.
After that, De Bruyne says that he has already spoken with the PSV icon. ''I spoke with the coach and told him that I am here to help. But of course I am also here to just keep playing,'' continues the Red Devil.
Then the world footballer goes on to say what he thinks about Van Bommel. ''I didn't know him that well yet. In recent years I haven't seen much of Belgian football. Now that I've spoken to him a few times, he seems to me like a typical Dutchman: clear and direct in how he deals with people. I think after the first training session already I can understand a bit how he wants to play'', De Bruyne says.
Unlike goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, the midfielder simply wants to stay active for the national team. ''I feel good both mentally and physically, so I just want to keep going the way things are going now. A lot of players asked me to stay,'' said the Belgian international.

Interpreteer het als volgt: Van Bommel gaat duidelijkheid en intensiteit brengen, en dat past bij de manier waarop De Bruyne denkt. Als PSV-spelers die mentaliteit gewend zijn, dan wordt België mogelijk gevaarlijker dan veel mensen verwachten.
"Maar natuurlijk ben ik hier ook gewoon om te blijven spelen" ... goated mindset van De Bruyne. Maar ja, Italië gaat testen. Als België de omschakeling niet dichtzet, maakt die typische Nederlandse directheid niet automatisch het verschil 💀
Ik vind het interessant dat hij zegt dat hij na een trainingsessie al "begrijpt hoe hij wil spelen". Dat zegt toch dat Van Bommel snel communiceert en zijn plan klaar heeft. Als dat in België ook lukt, kan PSV-wegje via Van Bommel echt impact hebben 👀
"Ik ben hier om te helpen" imo vooral slim van De Bruyne, maar hij wil ook blijven spelen. Courtois kan rust pakken, maar als Kevin fitter is, dan moet Van Bommel hem vooral vrij rol geven.
"nieuw project" klinkt leuk, maar Italië is niet van de makkelijkste tegenstanders. Als België niet snel de ruimtes in de diepte vindt, gaat dat enthousiasme snel omslaan.
tbh ik vond Van Bommel als coach altijd wel duidelijk, dus "typische Nederlander, direct" matcht wel. Wel vreemd dat De Bruyne zegt dat hij België de laatste jaren weinig gezien heeft lol.
Tbh ik snap De Bruyne wel. 35 en nog steeds honger, dat is attitude. Courtois wil rust, hij wil juist door, ik respect it.
De Bruyne zegt letterlijk dat hij na 1 training al snapt hoe Van Bommel wil spelen, dat klinkt best overtuigend. Ben benieuwd of België meteen hoog druk zet of juist slimmer compact blijft.
"Ik zie veel enthousiasme" is leuk, maar Nations League is meteen keihard. Als België druk zet zoals Van Bommel wil, moet De Bruyne wel de juiste afspraken krijgen met de backline. Anders wordt het gokken...
PSV-fans weten hoe Van Bommel voetballend lef combineert met eisen. Wel benieuwd of Italië ze vrijdag niet gewoon gaat uitspelen als België te hoog start. Maar De Bruyne die zegt dat hij wil blijven spelen, dat is tenminste wél een constante factor.
De Bruyne die zegt dat Van Bommel "duidelijk en direct" is, dat klinkt alsof het PSV-DNA ook bij België kan landen. Als hij snel ingrijpt op tempo en discipline, dan kan dit nieuwe project echt banger worden 🔥
