Analyst comments on Xavi’s choice regarding PSV player: “Most logical solution”

It became known last Friday that Guus Til was initially not included in Xavi Hernandez's first Oranje squad. Now the PSV player has been selected after all.

This is because Justin Kluivert and Donyell Malen pulled out. PSV coach Peter Bosz was also surprised that the PSV player was not in the squad and found it strange that the midfielder did not receive a call from the Spaniard. After all, Til was still at the Orange squad for the World Cup in North America last summer.

Among various Dutch football fans, there is, in a sense, still some misunderstanding regarding Xavi’s decision to include Til in the squad. For example, a large part of Feyenoord supporters would have preferred Luciano Valente to be included instead of Til.

Despite this, former football coach and current analyst Robert Maaskant believes that selecting the PSV player is a logical choice. Maaskant says this in NOS Studio Sport Voetbal.

Til was good for two strikes on Sunday afternoon in a visit to FC Twente, but despite that, Bosz's team lost 3-2 in Enschede. ''There are a number of options. You could also choose for a Valente. But I think in this case Til is the most logical solution, because he can play in the same position. He also proved that he can score goals. Til never lets you down,'' Maaskant said about the decision to select Til.
