According to De Telegraaf, PSV misses Luuk de Jong, who in turn says: “All options are still open.”

Luuk de Jong left in the summer of 2025 after three years at PSV, free transfer, to FC Porto. Even before the winter break, bad luck struck De Jong and, due to a severe knee injury, the season was over for the striker.

Nevertheless, the former PSV captain could celebrate at the end of the season, as the team coached by former Ajax coach Francesco Farioli won the national title. Despite this, De Jong decided to leave Portugal.

In conversation with PSV TV, the forward talks about his recovery. ''I feel good and things are going well with my knee too. I’m in the final phase of my rehabilitation. Now I’m calmly waiting to see what’s still to come'', De Jong says.

The adventure at FC Porto turned out differently than hoped. ''It was frustrating that I got injured, because you embark on an adventure and hope to make an impact. Of course, that's not what you hope for, even though I remained positive about it. I stayed with the team to support them wherever I could. This could also have happened at the start of my career, so maybe it's 'better' that it happened now'', says the striker.

Yet De Jong thinks his career is not over yet despite this serious injury. ''When you get the doctor's results, a lot goes through your mind. You won't be playing the season anymore anyway, but the question is also whether you come back well and what happens after that. I don't feel like this is the end of my career,'' says the attacker.

According to PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf, PSV still misses Luuk de Jong. Kapteijns refers to the Champions League match in which PSV this week managed to draw. De Jong would certainly not be out of place in such a match, the watcher of De Telegraaf thinks.

The former PSV player also had kind words for the employees at the Portuguese club. ''They were very caring and they were thinking along with me. I was operated on in the Netherlands, and at every appointment I had, a physiotherapist went with me. That was really great. Because it took a long time, it was quite tough, but because I was at the club and among the boys, it was easier than if I had been somewhere external. Porto really wanted to go through with it. It has been a wonderful adventure, but because of the injury I also took the time to think things over. It’s also nice to be home with family and friends, and to see what’s still to come. All options are still open,'' concludes De Jong.
