Aad de Mos praises the newcomer and points to the PSV defense: “That can be better.”

Former football coach and former PSV coach Aad de Mos also saw that PSV won 4-1 against Sparta Rotterdam last Sunday despite an early 0-1 deficit. With the help of newcomers Sven Mijnans and Kodai Sano, Peter Bosz’s side eventually got things back on track.

In a video item for Eindhovens Dagblad, De Mos looks back on the week of PSV together with PSV watcher Rik Elfrink, which also included a 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League. In doing so, the analyst notes that PSV easily concedes goals, and that was the case on Sunday as well.

Goalkeeper Matej Kovar conspicuously made a mistake, allowing Milan Zonneveld to put the visitors 0-1 up. Even at restarts, PSV does not quite look certain in De Mos's eyes.

''In any case, always make sure to match length with length in such a situation. I saw that the striker of Sparta (Milan Zonneveld, ed.) was being defended by the smallest defender of PSV (Mauro, ed.). That could be better'', says the former coach of both clubs.

Elfrink found the final score of 4-1 rather flattering and also points to the number of chances the team of Rogier Meijer had after the break to level it at 2-2. ''You can also see that psychology plays a big role in that match. Also among opponents on the pitch, but also on the bench after those three went in,'' De Mos replies, referring to the fact that Ricardo Pepi, Ivan Perisic and Ruben van Bommel came onto the field after about an hour of play.

''You could see too that they started walking backward again out of fear because it’s naturally intimidating. You take out three substitute players, in quotation marks, and you throw 58 million in there'', the analyst continues.

The former coach also addresses Sven Mijnans' hat-trick. ''I was happy for Mijnans. A calm guy with special qualities. He scores three in there for a moment. Against Utrecht he could already have made two, so in any case he proves himself. The money he’s already bringing in now with four goals is of great value and gives Til an additional competitor. Plus, of course, that Sano picks up a goal again'', De Mos is full of praise.

The analyst thinks Mijnans will live up to his name making an impact at PSV. ''A perfectly normal guy'', De Mos answers when Elfrink says that the midfielder is a player with good remarks during interviews. ''He had a normal education at Sparta. He comes from the amateurs. He joins Jong Sparta, gets into the first team, excels, and goes on to AZ. There he becomes one of the defining players again and is now going to prove that at the top as well. I'm convinced of that'', said the born resident of The Hague.
