A lot of praise from ESPN analysts after PSV’s first call-up
1 min readPSV captain Mauro Junior can start preparing for his debut in Brazil's national team. Mauro has been called up to the squad by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the friendly internationals against Australia and India.
The current PSV player has already played youth internationals, but so far has never received a call-up for the Seleção. Also on the program Voetbalpraat on ESPN, the men are impressed by Mauro.
''That is really very impressive, you know. That you just keep working hard for ten years, get better all the time, never end up going off track. Then you get rewarded'', says Hans Kraay Junior.
In October 2017, the versatile Brazilian made his debut for PSV’s senior team, and in the 2019/2020 season Mauro was loaned out to Heracles Almelo. In the 2020/2021 season, Mauro flourished under coach Roger Schmidt, under whom the midfielder turned defender was increasingly used and was also deployed as a right-back.
Fellow analyst Mario Been also has his own opinion about the PSV player’s call. ''Nice too that there’s one from the Dutch competition among them. Those Brazilians, of course, play in all the big competitions'', said Been.

PSV voetbalpraat panel is enthousiast, logisch.
If he debuts for Brazil, PSV should be proud. 👀
Bro Mauro Junior debuut in Brazilië is echt next level, 10 jaar hard werken en nu dan beloond, lets gooo 🚀❤️
Carlo Ancelotti calling him up is wild, maar fair tbh. Mauro doing it as both midfielder and right back under Roger Schmidt was the real proof.
Love to see it, Mauro Junior is pure consistency. Hans Kraay Junior is right, 10 years grind finally pays off. 🥇🔥
