“Youri Baas to a psychologist?” | PSV fans really go in after 2-2 in Amsterdam: “Come on then, Hugo Borst”

1 min read

'Stop but with the Var', began Danny Koevermans in the studio of EPSN shortly after the end of Ajax - Excelsior.

Ajax - Excelsior were not a regular home win for the Amsterdam side, who dropped valuable points on Saturday evening. However, it could just as easily have been 2-3 on the scoreboard after 94 minutes, because Ajax player Youri Baas went beyond the rulebook. A highly debatable moment in the Ajax penalty area, where many a referee would still have to walk over to the VAR screen.

Boss kicked an opponent in the face, just as Joey Veerman did against AZ in the match for the Johan Cruijff Shield. And so a red card. However, the referee decided otherwise and let play continue. Well, it was only a matter of waiting for reactions from the country because, yes... Hugo Borst screamed murder and mayhem after the serious foul by Van Bommel on Bouwman, but this kick in the face could also be there.

'Youri Baas to a psychologist?', a PSV fan posted on X, referring to the remarks by Hugo Borst to Ruben van Bommel after the Ajax - PSV match.

After the end of the penalty shoot-out, there was therefore a lot of discussion about the possible red card and penalty moment involving Ajax defender Youri Baas. PSV fans are pointing en masse at Hugo Borst and at Youri Baas. Whether that is justified or not, we’ll leave to everyone’s opinion and imagination...

90+ minuten drama, peak man.
