Tommie van der Leegte expresses his doubts: “Don’t let it show.”
1 min readWhere Esmir Bajraktarevic is an important player for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is different for PSV for the time being. That is also noted in De Rood Wit Podcast.
Bajraktarevic came to PSV in the winter of 2024/2025 from New England Revolution and since then has mainly had to make do with short substitute appearances. Every now and then, the Bosnian gets a starting spot from coach Peter Bosz.
In addition, the wing forward had to contend with Romanian Dennis Man as the right winger most of last season. Man came last summer from the Italian club Parma and, partly due to the severe injury suffered by Ruben van Bommel, found himself in the starting lineup frequently, as Ivan Perisic moved to the left when Van Bommel was injured early in the season.
Tommie van der Leegte does not see the Bosnian attacker as a regular starter for PSV. Van der Leegte does, however, have trouble pronouncing his name.
''I also don’t think Bajraktering bicycle that you should think...'', begins the former footballer, after which presenter Jessy Hobbelen and PSV fan Pascal van der Voort burst into laughter. ''You know who I mean, right?'', Van der Leegte replies.
''But he also doesn't show that he belongs there to play. He's a nice little player for the occasional twenty minutes, I think, but that's not a starting player for PSV?!'', Van der Leegte continues his argument.
''I don't either'', Jessy Hobbelen replies, after which Hobbelen discusses Dennis Man. ''He has also shown things that make you think: hey, he can do it. But I think it's all really too poor and much too little in general'', says the presenter of De Rood Wit Podcast.

I think he underestimates the context though. With rotations and Perisic shifting, some wingers get stuck adapting. Still, if Bosz wants a starter, Bajraktarevic needs more than flashes and 20 minutes... otherwise it is a no for me. 💀
bruh die naam grap bij Van der Leegte lol, maar inhoudelijk klopt het wel. hij mist gewoon die overtuiging in duels en laatste pass. als Perisic links staat, moet rechts juist wél vuur brengen. vuur 🔥
Dennis Man wordt genoemd als iemand met potentie, maar die woorden van Jessy Hobbelen zijn wel scherp. Als het "te pover en veel te weinig allemaal" is, dan heb je eigenlijk een upgrade nodig op die positie. Man kan meer, maar moet ook consistenter worden.
Ook wel eens met Jessy en Tommie. Dennis Man liet tenminste momenten zien die je meteen snapt als PSV-waardig, maar Bajraktarevic voelt nog vaak als optie A voor de breedte.
"Laat het niet zien" is wel pijnlijk eerlijk. Als je het vertrouwen niet afdwingt zoals Dennis Man vorig seizoen, dan ga je ook gewoon niet beginnen in Eindhoven. Jammer, want er zit wel talent.
"Laat het niet zien" is precies wat ik ook zie bij Bajraktarevic. Hij mag van mij best invallen, maar als hij start dan voelt het alsof we de bal hebben zonder echte threat. Lijkt me geen plan voor een topambitie seizoen.
tbh Bajraktarevic is echt nog niet het niveau voor een vaste basis bij PSV. Prima als supersub, maar als je hem na 20 minuten al ziet wegzakken dan klopt het gewoon niet.
ik snap die twijfels wel. als je maar 20 minuutjes scoort en verder verdwijnt dan ben je gewoon mid, niet voor de basis. 👀
Agree met Van der Leegte, Bajraktarevic is prima als impact-speler maar niet als vaste basisspeler. Bij PSV moet je elke week direct rendement brengen, anders mis je ritme en aanvallende dreiging. Tbh hoop dat Bosz snel een betere optie voor rechts klaar heeft.
