Sam Lammers, potentially PSV-level, dealt with harshly | Lammers on his way to Feyenoord?

Sam Lammers is not exactly having things go his way at the moment, and there are several reasons for that. The striker, extremely talented and blessed with a silky technique, already has a number of clubs to his name, but nowhere is there any sign of a consistent stream of performances.

Once again, problems for Sam Lammers, who has now also spoken out about his hopeless situation at FC Twente. Last week, the striker was told that John van den Brom sees him as the third option in the forward line. That confirmed his gut feeling. 'They were already communicating less with me.'

Van den Brom and Erik ten Hag had a discussion with Lammers last week. In that meeting, the 29-year-old striker was told that Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink is seen as the first replacement for Wout Weghorst. "A hard message, but sometimes you have to make choices," Van den Brom said about it.

In the lost clash with SC Heerenveen, the coach still called on Lammers, who came on as number 10 in the field ten minutes before time. After the defeat at the Abe Lenstra Stadium, the forward appeared on camera for ESPN. 'For you it has come a bit into the spotlight after that interview, for me it has been going on for a bit longer. Meanwhile, Lammers is being linked to a transfer to Feyenoord. At FC Afkicken they also see the potential of the striker, but whether it’s enough for the top has become a matter of many doubts. Whether Feyenoord can indeed be called the top of the Eredivisie is a second, equally reasonable question, but leaving that aside. FC Afkicken proposed on Tuesday, at any rate, a transfer of Lammers to Feyenoord, where Ueda seems set to leave.

In tribute to his future, Lammers shrouds himself in mists. 'What happens? We'll see. If necessary, I'll be there.' The striker's contract in Enschede expires next year.

Van den Brom also took the floor. 'We all know what the message has been; I can still tell that a hundred times,' the coach said. 'We try to create clarity within the players' group, to give the boys perspective. As long as Sam is with us, we use him. He’s simply a good striker. We have three good strikers; we’ve set an order there—nothing more than that.'
