Misunderstanding after call-up for PSV player
1 min readSince his debut with PSV’s first team in October 2017, there was initially a long period of doubt about Mauro Junior. In the 2019/2020 season, Mauro was still loaned out to Heracles Almelo before returning to PSV in 2020/2021.
Since then, the Brazilian blossomed again under coach Roger Schmidt, and sporadically Mauro also made it into the starting lineup under Schmidt, also due to the necessary injuries. That is how the left-footer was even deployed as a right back by the German coach, and there Mauro performed properly.

Eens dat het niet "zomaar ontdekt" is, maar Van Hanegem doet alsof het niks voorstelt. Voor mij is dit juist: als Schmidt hem liet groeien, en Bosz hem erin houdt, dan is dit het bewijs dat we een speler hebben die niveau kan dragen. Rockets naar Brazilië maar met dezelfde inzet. 🚀
"Die jongen loopt hier al de hele tijd, al járen." 100% dat inderdaad. Alleen bij PSV hebben we hem ook lang niet constant kunnen inzetten door blessures, dus die timing is logisch. Gun het hem, hopelijk pakt hij straks ook bij Brazilië door. 👀
Mauro als rechtsback onder Schmidt was echt brutaal maar werkte wel, dat vergeet iedereen snel. Nu weer centrum-middenvelder annex verdediger en dan aanvoerder omdat Schouten 2027 geblesseerd is. Dat is geen toeval. 💯
Die quote van Van Hanegem "Ja, en?" vond ik echt onnodig denigrerend. De man is al jaren hard aan het werk, en nu krijgt ie een kans met Ancelotti die hem selecteert. Dit is juist een beloning. 👏
Ik vind zijn punt half cap. Ja, het lijkt laat, maar net zoals PSV zelf ook soms pas laat doorpakt, gebeurt dat bij nationale ploegen ook. Mauro groeide pas echt door toen hij fit bleef en Bosz hem goed positioneerde als middenvelder-annex-verdediger.
"Ze voetballen aardig en hij doet het ook altijd aardig" klopt wel met wat mensen zagen: solide, niet altijd spektakel. Maar als Bosz hem aanvoerder maakt omdat Schouten out is, zegt dat genoeg over zijn waarde. 🐐
Mauro als rechtsback hebben we gezien, en hij deed het naar behoren. Dat is toch juist het type speler waar Brazilië van houdt? Van Hanegem praat alsof het nieuws uit het niets komt, maar dit zit er al lang aan te komen. 🔥⚽
De selectie voor Australië en India is natuurlijk niet hetzelfde als WK-actie, dus Van Hanegem is lekker zuur. Maar eerlijk, Mauro is ook niet altijd stabiel geweest door blessures. Nu Schouten geblesseerd is, kreeg hij ook meteen verantwoordelijkheid als aanvoerder.
"Zijn ze soms allemaal uitgestorven in Brazilië?" 😂 Ik moest lachen, maar inhoudelijk snap ik de frustratie. Mauro heeft zich toch gewoon bewezen onder Schmidt en Bosz. Alleen jammer dat het blijkbaar via een omweg gebeurt.
Tbh snap ik Van Hanegem wel een beetje. Als Mauro al jaren bij ons rondloopt, voelt het debuut bij Brazilië soms als "laat maar waar"... maar wtf wat een beloning als je het zo bekijkt. In het veld is hij dit seizoen gewoon meer dan een bijrol.
Ik snap Van Hanegem wel, maar tbh dit is gewoon late erkenning. Mauro heeft toch al jaren kwaliteit bij ons, dat hij nu ook door Brazilië wordt gezien is niet "ineens", het is timing. ⚽🔥
