Make a switch in the starting lineup next match?: ‘He’s just not in form’
1 min readWilly and René van de Kerkhof hope to see Nick Olij under the bar soon. That is what the PSV icons say in the Willy & René PSV Podcast by Omroep Brabant.
PSV lost last Sunday 3-2 away at FC Twente despite the fact that Peter Bosz’s side were still leading 1-2 a quarter of an hour before time. As a result, PSV also suffered their first competitive defeat of 2026/2027.
At the same time, goalkeeper Matej Kovar is once again dealt with harshly by both brothers. ''In seven matches he has already had ten of those little marbles thrown at his ears'', René fumes.
Willy is especially critical of the Czech goalkeeper on the second goal by the Tukkers. ''If he just keeps going, I think he would have had that ball. But he goes back. This has been the way all season. He’s just not in form'', says Willy.

Willy is also critical of FC Twente's winning goal. ''It's a corner for us, but a Twente player runs seventy meters from goal to goal without anything happening!'', grumbles the native Helmond resident.
René shares brother Willy’s opinion. ''Get him by the collar, dash rolling through the grass, and if necessary then you get a yellow card. Well, it’s 3-2 now. I’m missing a winning mentality to want that ball. Especially with Dest,'' says René.
Willy agrees with the last point. ''It's great if you can solve everything through football, but sometimes you have to fall back on pure defending'', Willy says.
According to the brothers, there are only four players within Peter Bosz's squad who have a winners' mentality. ''There are four: Mauro Junior, Til, Van Bommel and Perišić'', said the PSV favorites.

Interesting that they list only four players with "winnaarsmentaliteit": Mauro Junior, Til, Van Bommel, and Perisic. I agree it feels like the group lacks edge in crunch moments, but is it really that low? Time for Bosz to demand more fight from the whole XI, not just the usual suspects.
