Leonne Stentler strikes hard after the transfer of Geertruida to PSV

1 min read

The much-discussed transfer of Geertruida still keeps many tongues wagging. The true Rotterdamer has by now become persona non grata at Feyenoord and, really, throughout Rotterdam.

Well-considered, Geertruida in any case made the decision to move to PSV. Well-considered, Geertruida in any case made the decision to move to PSV and that is not something he is going to be held against. Various media, journalists and analysts cast their light on the spicy transfer, which many a PSV fan enjoys watching, but as mentioned, any Feyenoord fan is horrified.

Even at NOS, it appears that everyone’s reactions are allowed to pass by. This also applies to Leone Stentler, who understands nothing about the emotional outbursts. “People have completely lost track of it; this goes too far,” begins the NOS analyst. Leonne Stentler receives all the hate reactions directed at Lutsharel Geertruida and sees that the boundaries are being pushed significantly.

"It goes very far. We see that often, that people completely lose the plot and no longer know where the boundaries are,” said Stentler in the NOS Sports broadcast of the national broadcaster. The analyst understands that the transfer is sensitive because Geertruida is a former captain and figurehead of Feyenoord, but he believes that there are clear limits to that. “You go too, too far,” Stentler says.

"He has positioned himself quite strongly as a Child of the South. It may be a bit more sensitive for a number of fans, but there are simply limits", Stentler is clear. Fellow colleague Jeroen Stekelenburg also finds it above all sad that Geertruida seems to have to justify himself for his choice. "In the PSV press release, the word Feyenoord appears about four times. I find that a bit sad. That a player feels like he has to apologize for choosing PSV. That is not necessary."

Stentler meanwhile mainly sees the sporting side of the transfer. "I think it’s a very logical choice by PSV. They really need someone who is very strong in the buildup, especially given the injury of Jerdy Schouten. I also think it’s a very good choice by Geertruida."

Logical choice for PSV though, build-up specialist in a time of injury chaos. 🚀 If he performs, all the Feyenoord tears will turn into silence real fast. ⚽

I actually like Stekelenburg's point about the word "Feyenoord" being repeated too much. It makes Geertruida look like he has to apologize, and that's not fair. But ngl, if PSV's getting a proper ball-playing defender for the build-up, that "logical choice" argument is hard to deny 😅

"People have completely lost their way; this goes too far" is spot on. i dont care how many times "Feyenoord" shows up in that release, the guy chose a project and PSV need his build-up, especially with Schouten injured. Sporting wise it's a W for us, stop the melodrama 👏

I mean, tbh Stentler is not wrong about the boundaries. But i also think he is a bit naive about how emotional the Rotterdam rivalry is, especially when Geertruida was a captain and figurehead. Still, Stekelenburg saying he has to

That line about the PSV press release,

"People have completely lost their way; this goes too far"... 100% agree. Also the PSV release mentioning Feyenoord four times is just marketing cringe, like let the player breathe and move on. Respect to Stekelenburg for calling that out.

Honestly i get where Stentler is coming from, but the hate is so unnecessary. Geertruida chose his path, and PSV need that build-up quality ASAP with Schouten injured. If Feyenoord fans feel betrayed, fair, but leave it at opinions not abuse.

People overreacting again, tbh. Stentler's right that fans are pushing the lines, but bruh i also get the Feyenoord emotions. Geertruida choosing PSV is football, not a personal betrayal 😂
