Kerkhof brothers not grieving about upcoming transfer: “Get out!”

1 min read

Couhaib Driouech is almost certain to be in his final days at PSV. De Eindhovens Dagblad reported on Monday morning that the club has reached an agreement on a transfer to Rangers FC from Scotland and Mounir Boualin of Soccernews.nl has meanwhile confirmed that an oral agreement in principle has been reached between the two clubs.

Driouech came in the summer of 2024 from Excelsior to PSV and, partly due to the intense competition in the forward line, never managed to force his way into a regular starting spot. Last season, the winger on the left still played an important role by scoring two goals during the historic 1-4 victory against Liverpool FC at Anfield Road in the Champions League.

In addition, the winger also played a role in the match against Napoli (6-2) by scoring a world-class goal. For the rest, Driouech didn’t really come through at PSV, and the brothers Willy and René van de Kerkhof also see that.

That is why they are absolutely not upset about the fact that the attacker is on the verge of leaving Eindhoven. ''Last year, after those matches against Napoli and Liverpool, I thought we really had a good left winger in him, but he hasn’t lived up to it. There are plenty of clubs that want him; Celta de Vigo has also joined the list, so send him on his way!'', Rene shouts in the Willy & René PSV Podcast from Omroep Brabant.

Willy shares the words. ''Get lost! I really want the very best for him, but he should go chase balls somewhere else. He’s not going to make it here'', said Willy.

The view for Driouech during playtime at PSV this season still seemed to be getting smaller, as the talent Amir Bouhamdi was allowed to come on earlier in the friendly match against Villarreal CF (1-3). In addition, Bouhamdi also had Bosz’s preference in the race for the Johan Cruijff Shield.

Celta de Vigo also in the mix? That tells you his market value is still there. I just hope we are smart with the replacement, because PSV still needs a real left winger who can create and score, not just one-off bangers. 💯⚽

"Hier komt hij niet aan de bak" is the key line for me. The fact that Bouhamdi got minutes vs Villarreal and even preference for the Johan Cruijff Schaal says everything. Driouech leaving might actually help our attacking depth and balance.

Rangers could be a good fit. Different league, more chances to start. But PSV fans know this feeling... you buy potential, then competition wins. 👀🔥

Wegwezen is a bit harsh lol but tbh i agree with the logic. At PSV you need to deliver more than 2-3 highlight games. Better squad management now that Bosz is trusting Amir in those big moments.

René said: "wegbrengen!" and honestly i get it. Two goals at Anfield and that Napoli worldie were peak moments, but after that it was mostly missing in action. If Bouhamdi is getting ahead of him in pre-season, tough luck.

If this is true, i mean... it makes sense. Driouech had flashes vs Liverpool and Napoli but he never became the consistent left winger we needed. Rangers is a solid move for him though, good luck.
