Frustration among PSV brothers: ‘You can certainly do something about that’
1 min readAfter a painful home defeat against AZ in the Johan Cruyff Shield, PSV also got off to a poor start in the Eredivisie with a 2-2 draw at home against Fortuna Sittard. That was also seen by brothers Willy and René van de Kerkhof.
The PSV brothers' ideals are also critical of PSV's management. According to the brothers, they wait too long before bringing in new players.
''If you had had one or two boys here on time, then they could have played this Saturday. And maybe they would have made the difference. Of course you shouldn't just spend 25 million. But sometimes you have to say once: 'we're doing it' instead of always waiting, waiting, waiting. If it goes wrong on Saturday against Excelsior, then you can already be four, five points behind'', Willy fumes in the Willy & René PSV Podcast from Omroep Brabant.
Brother René shares the opinion and also points to the outgoing transfer of Ismael Saibari to FC Bayern Munchen. ''You’ve already spent 50 million on Saibari, haven’t you? You can certainly do something with that'', René said.

After that, the brothers move on to their ideal back line, where they have no place for Ryan Flamingo. Flamingo went glaringly wrong on Saturday in the 0-1 defeat by Fortuna, but he also was good for the equalizer.
''If Geertruida comes along then you’ve got a good defence with Dest, Kostic and Gasiorowski. And then you see that Flamingo at the first goal... I would have swapped him straight away. Could he have seen from the bench how it’s done'', the brothers said.

Geertruida + Dest + Kostic + Gasiorowski sounds like a proper defensive lineup. If Flamingo keeps making obvious mistakes, I agree with the brothers, send him to the bench and let him learn 👀
Flamingo at the back is scary tbh. That first Fortuna goal, he looks hesitant and then still gets involved on the equaliser, which is like... do your job or dont, no in between 😅
René is right about Saibari. Daar mag je best iets mee doen"... spend it smarter then, not just talk about it.
The wait for signings is killing us. If Willy and Rene are saying "wachten, wachten, wachten" again, that is exactly the problem, especially when games like Excelsior could already put you 4-5 points behind.
