Emotional Hugo Borst can’t control himself and comes up with a scandalous conclusion: “He has a hereditary burden”

1 min read

Hugo Borst in fact behaved badly in the ESPN studio by repeatedly taking a hard hit at Ruben van Bommel: 'This is an attempted murder; I recommend that he see a psychologist,' Borst started immediately after the Ajax - PSV match. The ESPN analyst appeared emotional on several occasions during his speech.

That was actually only the beginning, because Borst didn’t exactly hold back. It didn’t sit well with the Sparta fan either—the challenge by Ruben van Bommel was worthy of a red card. Nevertheless, Borst crossed the line firmly in his commentary and criticism of Van Bommel, who himself immediately seemed guilty after the match, which Sparta won 1-3 at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

The ESPN analyst believes that referee Sander van der Eijk should have stepped in, but he places the blame primarily on the PSV forward. "This is an attempted murder. Ruben van Bommel is genetically tainted by Mark', Borst pointed at Mark van Bommel in a scandalous manner. Even the foul that Mark van Bommel committed in the World Cup final was brought up by Borst.

"This is a huge mistake by VAR. They should have intervened here. This is clearly red", Borst said during De Eretribune. Van der Eijk spares him no kindness either: "He was thrown to the lions, but I can’t give him that here. This is an attempted murder."

Borst goes one step further and speaks directly to Van Bommel. "I'm someone who regularly visits a psychologist. I recommend that Van Bommel does the same. He completely loses himself. This is an absurd short circuit; he really needs to do something about it. This isn't normal."

According to Borst, there is also a pattern involving Van Bommel. "This kind of incident is already more on his record. It’s starting to become a 'Van Bommel little thing'", Borst exaggerated, who only calmed down after an hour and managed to somewhat qualify his words.
