Bosz lashes out at Hugo Borst | One coach is emotionally “out of God,” the other coach makes changes to his team during the match

Yes, it really can. Winning in Amsterdam but still having your team substituted out of the match. Peter Bosz conjured up a few unusual substitutions from his high hat, in the sense that those changes could also have happened about ten minutes later. But the final score stands, and that is what counts—the win in the Johan Cruijff Arena.

The winning coach is always right and so that also applies to Peter Bosz, who saw Esmir Bajraktarević fire in the winning goal. Both Mijnans and Bajraktarević, as well as Wanner, started off particularly weakly with a lot of ball loss, even though Ivan Perisic was not really ready for a substitution yet and made that clear to his coach.

Ajax - PSV also became the game of Ruben van Bommel, who receives a lot of criticism. In particular, Hugo Borst went too far with his critiques after the PSV - Ajax match. That seemed to please Peter Bosz in turn, but more on that later.

Van Bommel himself would rather not come on camera, but Bosz did. "I’ve just come from Ruben. He’s very upset in the dressing room. He was the only one who didn’t celebrate in the dressing room, because that was absolutely not his intention. And yes, if you see how that kid from the pitch leaves, that isn’t nice," says the coach in the interview with ESPN.

Bosz doesn’t know whether Van Bommel should have received a red card. "That might sound strange. This is my player, you know. I think that’s a very difficult one. Because you see: at a certain point the ball bounces up and he sprints after it. He’s strong and he wants that ball. And at the very last moment he sees that they’re at risk of colliding with their heads. That’s what he told me. So he turns his body in.”

“He comes in at high speed and that indeed looks like it, because he turns his shoulder toward it, so you think: what’s he doing? But you have to imagine this: if he didn’t do it, then the two of you would be running into each other, full in each other’s faces. Only: you run into a wall with him, because that guy is as strong as can be. And he works on that every day to be strong. So I don’t think you can blame him for it. But of course it’s at high speed and certainly also when you see the outcome”, Bosz said.

“Look, he protects himself by turning in, and that other boy doesn’t protect himself. It is absolutely not the case that he intended this or anything like that. That is absolutely not the case”, the coach assures, who has heard that Borst spoke in the studio about a ‘murder attack’ and drew a comparison with Mark van Bommel, his father. “I heard that there are people among you in the studio who also have an opinion about it and then go on to say all kinds of strange things. Bringing families into it: don’t do that. That’s what I think. That’s once again stoking it. Just as it’s not okay for our players to sprint onto the field during that scuffle, this also shouldn’t happen”, said Peter Bosz, who clearly pointed at Hugo Borst.

And an Ajax coach Michel? He still has some steps to take in mastering his emotions, because the Spanish coach clearly went way too far. Even during the match, Michel regularly had the word 'puta' on his tongue, and also, when Ruben van Bommel was fouled, he too ran onto the field in an over-emotional frenzy. The coach of the Amsterdammers was, according to some Ajax and PSV fans on social media, therefore also 'out of his mind...'
