Apathetic, a lack of quality? PSV fans are absolutely right to go completely wild after a bizarre moment

1 min read

We simply cannot get around the blundering Matej Kovar. For the umpteenth time, Kovar made a considerable mistake. The goalkeeper from the Czech Republic, who surely also sometimes makes a good save and keeps PSV in the clear, once again slipped below the lower limit of what is acceptable.

The defense of Peter Bosz' team cannot rely on Kovar, it was also evident again on Sunday evening. Kovar, who regularly shows that he does not have the right level, made a huge blunder that Sparta managed to turn into 0-1. Kovar often looks unfocused and even apathetic, but what the goalkeeper showed on Sunday evening just before the 0-1 is something you see on many an amateur field not even once.

Out of nowhere, Sparta surprisingly took the lead. Kovar came out of his goal and swung past and over the ball, after which Milan Zonneveld punished the mistake ruthlessly and fired into the empty net. The Philips Stadium reacted in disbelief, as did many fans on social media.

Overall, the article nailed the key problem, the transitions. When we lose it near midfield, it becomes a free highlight reel for the opponent 🤡. Fix that spacing and PSV are back to being scary again.

"we just need more intensity" is correct, i agree... but intensity without smarter decisions is just chaos. Sub one midfielder for control, keep the energy, and we look way more dangerous 🔥⚽

Sosa and Tillman on the right side together was a banger for me. They actually looked like they could combine under pressure, not just sprint. Give them more minutes and lets go win the next one. 🚀💯

"PSV Inside" is giving peak confidence, but i need to see it against a real counter-attacking team. Right now it feels like we rely too much on individual quality to bail us out. 💀

The line about the wingers cutting inside is true, but it only works if the No.9 is actually aggressive between center backs. Right now we look good on the ball, then disappear in the box 💀

Im still not convinced about the defensive shape. One late step from the center backs and you get exposed on the counter, especially if we push too many players forward. Smh.

tbh i like the idea, but that buildup sounded a bit too slow to me. Safer passing is good, yet we need earlier diagonal balls or teams will sit deep and suffocate us 🔥

tbh the biggest thing for me is Xavi Simons not hiding. When he gets the ball between the lines, the whole team moves faster. If we keep feeding him like that, Ajax fans can watch nervously. 👀

If PSV are playing with that same high-tempo pressing like the article says, we win the midfield battle again. But if the fullbacks dont hold that line, the counter threat is instant, no excuses.

No way van Bommel finally found a system that fits the midfield. If it means we press higher and let the fullbacks overlap more, im all in. 🔥⚽
