Tenant PSV forces rental deal with option to buy, permission from Germany for medical examination

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that PSV has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig on a loan transfer for Lutsharel Geertruida with an option to buy. This news has meanwhile also been confirmed by PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad and, according to Romano, Die Roten Bullen have also given the green light for the defender’s medical examination in Eindhoven.

With that, it seems PSV has finally secured its desired reinforcement as the backline player passes the medical examination. The former Feyenoord player may also leave RB Leipzig, and the Germans initially wanted to sell Geertruida.

The club management of the Red Bull Club has finally given in. Earlier, Romano already reported that PSV was in pole position despite the fierce competition from, among others, Ajax.

According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, Geertruida had also already been in personal agreement with PSV for some time. Only the asking price of RB Leipzig could, according to the ED, still throw a spanner in the works.

Meanwhile, more clarity has emerged about the amount for which PSV could permanently sign the defender after this season from RB Leipzig. Romano reports that Geertruida can definitely move to PSV for fifteen million euros after this season.

The call for defensive reinforcements was also high among the PSV supporters, especially after the back line left no good impression during the pre-season. Moreover, Ryan Flamingo also made a mess of things against Fortuna Sittard (2-2), and the defender also came off badly last Saturday against Excelsior (1-2).

Earlier this week, Aad de Mos in a video item for the Eindhovens Dagblad already pleaded for Flamingo to be replaced with Geertruida. "That one is further than Flamingo, is also international," De Mos had earlier this week shed some light.

Besides Elfrink and Romano, Voetbal International has also confirmed that Geertruida, after long speculation, is now actually on the way to move to PSV on a loan basis. ''Because it is currently financially unfeasible to permanently take over Geertruida from Leipzig, PSV has focused on a loan deal. Coach Peter Bosz wants to add the versatile international, who can operate both as a right-back, a central defender and a defensive midfielder, to his squad. Because PSV is convinced of his qualities, it was willing to wait a long time for Leipzig's yes-word'', as Joost Blaauwhof writes in VI.
