Powerful statement by PSV: contract extension until 2030

1 min read

Following the extension of the contract of managing director Marcel Brands in December 2025 and coach Peter Bosz in February of this year, technical director Earnest Stewart has now also extended his contract at PSV. Stewart will remain as technical director of PSV until at least 2030.

The American appeared in action on 1 March 2023 in service with the club when PSV was temporarily without a TD due to the departure of John de Jong on 16 September 2022, a few days before the top-of-the-table clash PSV - Feyenoord (4-3). Since then, a different wind has been blowing at PSV and many top signings were made by the former footballer of, among others, NAC Breda.

Moreover, a period of three consecutive league titles followed under coach Peter Bosz, who was appointed by Stewart and Brands in the summer of 2023 as the successor to the departed Ruud van Nistelrooij and earlier this year extended his contract until mid-2028. During that period, Stewart also brought players such as Jerdy Schouten, Sergino Dest, Ivan Perisic, Ruben van Bommel, Malik Tillman and Noa Lang to PSV (the latter two have since left).

Nevertheless, the TD does not want to take all the credit for himself, as he makes clear in a press release from PSV. ''But of course everything happens in close cooperation with our other three members of the executive board'', the American says firmly.

After that, the former footballer continues. ''I also think that that is PSV's strength at the moment: the short lines, the excellent teamwork with one another. We are still building significantly; on the team, on the rest of the club. I am very happy and grateful that I can be part of it for longer. We would like to keep that stable club that we are now, with each year a broad and strong squad that can compete for the prizes'', said Stewart.

General Managing Director Marcel Brands is also pleased with the fact that the American has extended his contract with PSV. ''With his football expertise, composure, integrity and experience, Earnest has made an important contribution to the sporting successes we have achieved together. At the same time, he is someone who always seeks collaboration and puts the common interest first. Precisely that close collaboration between the board, staff and the rest of the organization forms the foundation of where PSV stands today. We are therefore very pleased that Earnest is committing to the club for the long term. Continuity in key positions is important in order to continue the development that has been set in motion and, also in the future, to remain structurally in the running for titles,'' Brands said.

Bro echt fijn nieuws. 🔥
