Million transfer quickly completed, deal agreed in outline

1 min read

The transfer of Kodai Sano to PSV will be completed soon. With that news, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin from Soccernews.nl will announce it on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Boualin, both clubs have, in broad terms, reached an oral agreement on the transfer of Sano to Eindhoven, where the midfielder himself had already reached an agreement with PSV earlier. ''Reliable sources from the world of football tell SoccerNews that PSV and NEC have now found each other, in broad terms, on the transfer fee, although no statements have been made so far about how high this will be. The deal is close, in broad terms, and Sano will soon come to Eindhoven for the medical examination and to work out the final details. That is now on the schedule'', the journalist writes on the website of Soccernews.nl.

PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from the Eindhovens Dagblad also confirms that PSV has reached an oral agreement with the NEC midfielder. On Monday evening, the ED already reported that the club is on track to bring both Sano and Filip Kostic to Eindhoven.

Last week, PSV still pulled the plug on negotiations with the Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie since PSV felt the asking price was too high. Now the negotiations have been resumed again and it seems the Japanese player is still on his way to PSV.

NEC still plays Tuesday evening in Greece against Olympiacos in the Champions League qualifying round. According to Boualin, it is also uncertain whether Sano will still play that match for Dick Schreuder’s team.

''It remains to be seen whether Sano is still in the mix for NEC, that is still somewhat unclear, those are the reports from Greece'', the transfer journalist writes about it.

It is clear that the Japanese player, after the first meeting between both clubs, is heading toward Eindhoven. ''After this match, the intention is that Sano will go to Eindhoven in the short term for the medical examination. If the examination and the final details do not create any unexpected obstacles, then Sano will sign for several years with the reigning national champions,'' said Boualin.

Eens. This is the kind of PSV approach where you can actually see a plan. Give the front line the ball earlier and we go from "mid" to banger 🔥

"Dont overcommit" is the right message, but PSV have to take risks at some point or it turns into 0-0 football. Id rather see one extra runner than yet another safe pass back.

One stat stood out: "second balls win percentage". That is exactly why PSV feels dangerous, even when you think the game is neutral. Keep that aggression, but make sure we dont get caught after the duels 💯

If the article is praising the defensive structure, then i have to disagree a little. Against faster counters, the gaps between the lines still open up, and it is always the same side that suffers 👀

To me the biggest problem is the defensive transition. We look solid in possession, but once they counter, the distances get too big and it feels like a free run every time 💀

"PSV Inside" is spot on about the width, but tbh our fullbacks still look a bit late on the overlap. If the winger tucks in, we need the FBs to be brave, otherwise it turns into a slow pass-and-hope game 😅

I like the idea of rotating the front line, but tbh the build-up still looks shaky when the right side gets bypassed too easily. Need more control before we start gambling.

If PSV really want to control games with that midfield shape, i hope they keep it simple and dont overplay under pressure. 👀 Bring the ball forward faster in the half-spaces and the chances will come.

That PSV Inside bit about the pressing triggers is spot on. When they jump on the pass into midfield, you can feel opponents panic and the whole tempo changes 🔥
